It will provide detailed insights into its innovative features, the tangible benefits it brings to riders, and the noticeable difference it makes in enhancing performance under extreme conditions.
Key Features of the Rekluse Left-Hand Rear Brake Kit
After personally installing and rigorously testing the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit on my dirt bike, the firsthand advantages and features I’ve encountered have been outstanding, significantly improving my control and confidence across the challenging terrains of the Arapeen Trails.
This kit features a Rekluse-engineered full-size billet aluminum master cylinder, showcasing its superior performance and durability. The capability to operate the rear brake with just my left hand—while still having the option to use the traditional foot pedal—has revolutionized my riding, particularly on steep descents and narrow trails.
The enhanced tactile sensation and precision control achieved through hand modulation of the rear brake are remarkable. This approach offers a more instinctive connection than the traditional method of using a stiff boot on a pedal, enabling finer management of the bike’s braking force. Consequently, I’ve been able to confidently plan my approach to turns, notably increase my cornering speed, and maintain superior traction. An unexpected advantage has been the ability to extend my right foot for better traction and body positioning in right-hand turns, without the need to constantly hover over the brake pedal.
The Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit has revolutionized my riding experience by delivering unmatched control and braking power. It has also significantly boosted my bike’s performance through its technical innovations and intelligent design.
Personal Review of Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit
As a dirt bike rider who has personally navigated the ups and downs of challenging terrains, my quest for the ultimate control over my bike led me from the OX-Brake Hydra Trail Left Hand Rear Brake Kit to the transformative Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit.
While the OX-Brake offered some advantages, particularly for downhill sections, its functionality seemed confined to those scenarios alone, mainly due to its plastic master cylinder which limited practical use on a 220lb bike. It was adequate for downhill, but when it came to comprehensive control across both uphill and downhill terrains, it fell short of my needs.
Transitioning to the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit marked a significant upgrade in my riding experience. This kit has proven indispensable, especially when tackling both steep inclines and declines. Unlike my previous setup, which was perfect only for downhill, the Rekluse kit delivers exceptional performance in both uphill and downhill situations. Its robust design allows for precise rear tire control—enabling it to lock up when necessary—thereby dramatically improving my stability and control across all terrains.
The dual functionality of the Rekluse kit, allowing me to grab both brakes simultaneously, has been a game-changer. It provides a level of security and control that was unattainable with the OX-Brake, significantly boosting my confidence when facing challenging terrains. This feature alone has ensured that even if I need to dismount on a steep incline, my bike remains stable and secure, preventing it from sliding backward down the hill—a concern that can quickly escalate into a dangerous scenario.
It’s important to note, however, that the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit and the clutch are sold separately, and the brake kit is designed to be used specifically with a Rekluse clutch.

What other dirt bike experts say about the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit
“This is a necessity with the Rekluse clutch.
Now that I have 10 rides on both the Rekluse clutch and this rear hand brake I can make a fair review. They should be sold as a set. Dont buy the clutch without it. If you ride trails, its a no brainer. Right foot down in corners and switch backs and the ability to apply rear brake WOW! Its tuff to get the air out, do yourself a favor and DO NOT LEVER the UNIT right out of the box. WAIT, till its in place and full of fluid! Fitment, I dinged cause it is so stinking close to the exhaust on the footbrake slave /master reservoir. I insulated the brake line here and so far OK. Asked Rekluse to make a 15* offset fitting here. X your fingers they listen.”
Excellent Control in all braking situations
“My KTM has an extremely strong rear brake, and I found myself locking up the rear wheel every time I touched the foot pedal. After I installed the Rekluse clutch, I installed the Left had rear brake kit and and immediately liked the control that it gave me in all situations, but especially in hard/soft downhill descents. Now I can modulate the front and rear brakes with one or two finger control. If I forget and hit the foot brake, I feel the hand lever stiffen up, reminding me to back off before the wheel locks up. An added benefit is being able to use both feet and the rear in any situation no matter the circumstances. The system is simple enough for many riders to install on their own, and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.”
“If You Have It, You Will Use It Often
If you ask people would you use a left handed rear brake lever, they usually say NO! But I wanted it to go with my new Rekluse Core 3.0 clutch. Do I use it, you bet I do, all of the time and I still have full use of my rear brake pedal. I let my friend try my bike (he also rides a wr450f) and he fell in love with the clutch and the rear brake left hand lever. Its great descending long hills, you can lock up the rear tire and maintain stability, having to stop while climbing a hill, no problem, even if you dismount, you can grab both brakes keeping your bike from sliding backward down hill. Again, would not live without it, makes riding more fun and safer. And NO, it does not get in the way and Yes, it will lock the back wheel very easily. Looks great and very well engineered. Expensive? Yes, but do like I do, buy everything motorcycle or atv related at RMATV/MC and use your points towards those items that might be too costly that you want for your bike.”

Why do you need to choose Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit
One pivotal decision-making factor that sets the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit apart from its competitors, and solidifies its position as a must-have upgrade for serious dirt bike riders, is its unmatched versatility in enhancing rider control across a vast array of terrains.
This unparalleled versatility stems from the kit’s innovative design, which allows for dual-control braking. Riders can use the traditional foot pedal for rear braking or opt for the hand brake lever mounted on the handlebars, giving them the ability to modulate the rear brake with precision using their left hand.
This feature is particularly advantageous in situations where maintaining balance and traction is critical, such as steep uphill climbs where you need to apply the brakes without shifting your weight backward, or during downhill runs where locking up the rear wheel can help control speed without risking front wheel washouts.
In scenarios where dismounting on a steep incline is necessary, the Rekluse kit allows riders to maintain control of their bike, preventing it from sliding backward—a common and potentially dangerous occurrence with less versatile braking systems.
This dual-control functionality also means that riders don’t have to sacrifice the use of their clutch lever or rear brake pedal, preserving the natural riding dynamics and ergonomics they’re accustomed to while adding an extra layer of control.
Conclusion
My experience with the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit stands out as a significant milestone in this ongoing quest for improvement. This kit has revolutionized my riding experience, offering unprecedented control and confidence that I hadn’t found in any other upgrade.
A reliable rear brake system is crucial in dirt biking, serving as the foundation for managing speed and maintaining balance on unpredictable trails. The Rekluse Kit elevates this foundation, introducing a left-hand operation that intuitively complements a rider’s natural instincts. This adds a crucial layer of precision and safety, especially valuable in the unpredictable environments in which riders thrive.
Having personally installed and rigorously tested the Rekluse Kit, I can vouch for its transformative impact. It has significantly enhanced my riding capabilities, allowing for smoother, more controlled braking. This control is vital in reducing the risk of lock-ups and skids—common issues that can escalate into dangerous situations on the trail.
As a seasoned dirt bike rider and blogger, having tested and reviewed numerous upgrades, I firmly believe the Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit is an essential addition for any serious rider. Its unmatched ability to improve riding experience, ensuring control and safety on both uphill and downhill challenges, makes it an invaluable upgrade.
