Hey there!

I’m Sam Oldham, and if there’s one thing I’m obsessed with, it’s dirt bikes. Heck, anything that revs up with a motor, especially those sweet 2-stroke engines. My love affair with dirt bikes started years ago, stemming from childhood dreams of tearing up trails, even though my small Utah mountain farm upbringing didn’t offer much opportunity for it back then.

But one fine day, my dream became a reality. I still vividly remember the exhilaration as I bought my first dirt bike as an adult. I was practically buzzing with excitement, so much so that I had the sales guy load it into my truck for me – I didn’t trust my trembling hands with it.

That was more than 15 years ago, and since then, I’ve owned a fleet of these magnificent machines. I’ve braved countless trails, enduring the aches and pains that come with the ride, yet my passion remains unyielding. There’s something about hurtling down a single track that keeps me coming back, bruises, bleeding and all.

But my love for dirt biking isn’t just personal – it’s a passion I’m determined to share. My mission? To introduce others to the exhilarating world of dirt biking, guiding them to the same joy and thrill that have fueled my life for years. I want to be the helping hand for beginners, steering them clear of the mistakes I’ve made (and continue to make) along this dirt-covered journey.

Life took an unexpected turn in 2019 when I was laid off from my corporate sales job at a tech giant. It was tough, but it turned out to be the nudge I needed. I realized that the traditional path didn’t align with my dreams of self-employment and pursuing what truly set my soul on fire. So, I dove headfirst into my passions.

I launched the BackcountryLife YouTube channel, where I share a plethora of dirt biking adventures. I became a partner in snowgroomers.net, carving out a space in the snow sports industry. And then there’s DirtBikeSam.com – a place where my fellow dirt bike enthusiasts and I can connect, learn, and grow together.

Sure, it gets challenging at times, juggling multiple endeavors and making ends meet. But the satisfaction of living my dream, working on projects that ignite my spirit, makes every challenge worth it.

Beyond the world of dirt biking, you’ll find me camping under the stars, hunting for new thrills, conquering dunes on my utv, carving through snow on a snowboard or snowmobile, and diving into exciting business ventures. I believe in the power of following your passions and making time for what truly makes your heart race.
